The wind turbine is in Bristol, where Jo Read and fellow water pump experts will be testing how our wind turbine performs when connected to their water pump system.
There will be a chance to go and see it at some point in the next few weeks in the wind tunnel, get in touch if your interested!

Can you tell me what's the lowest watts 1200 1500 2000 etc. wind turbine can be used to power an electric well pump of say 1000 watts?
It depends on how long you would like the pump to run. Its easier to match wind turbines with loads if we talk in terms of kWh's, so on an good site in the uk with a wind speed of 6m/s average the 500W turbine will produce 2.5kWh a day. If you want to run a 1000W pump continuously it will use 24kWh a day and so very roughly 10-12x 500W turbines would be needed. Or better roughly one 5 -6kw wind turbine.
